Deadly Fog Triggers Multi-Vehicle Inferno on Yamuna Expressway, Leaving Four Dead

A deadly accident on the Yamuna Expressway near Mathura unfolded as dense fog caused a massive collision involving seven buses and three cars. At least four people were killed after CNG vehicles caught fire, while over 100 passengers were rescued and taken to hospitals.

A thick blanket of fog turned the Yamuna Expressway into a scene of devastation on Tuesday when a chain-reaction crash involving multiple vehicles claimed four lives and left dozens shaken. Poor visibility along the high-speed corridor near Mathura led to a massive collision in which seven buses and three cars slammed into one another, triggering fires and chaos within moments.

According to officials, the accident unfolded as vehicles struggled to navigate through dense fog, drastically reducing sightlines for drivers. The impact of the collisions was so severe that several CNG-powered vehicles caught fire, trapping occupants before emergency services could reach them. Four people were burned to death at the spot, authorities confirmed.

The aftermath saw scenes of panic as passengers attempted to escape the wreckage amid flames and smoke. Responding swiftly, the administration dispatched more than a dozen ambulances to the site. Rescue teams managed to evacuate over 100 passengers, many of whom were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Police, fire brigade units, and Yamuna Expressway rescue personnel arrived shortly after the incident and launched coordinated relief and rescue operations. Firefighters worked to bring the blaze under control, while traffic police secured the stretch to prevent further accidents and allow emergency access. The fire has since been fully extinguished.
